Love on the Rocks (1/5)
Jul. 12th, 2010 01:15 amA/N: My take on some pirate action with Kradam :D I blame Pirates of The Caribbean for the sudden thought of doing this :P This is just the beginning, so not any Kris and Adam together action...yet! It will come next chapter, though! I hope you enjoy!!!!!!
On the seven seas, there were many pirates, some with long white beards, some with scars on their face, and some that looked like they were kings. Yet one pirate who was widely known was neither of these. Some say he was brought into the business by his old father who got killed when his son was only 14. The son was forced to take his father's pace, for his brother, being a few years younger than him, could not sail yet and wasn't passed down his father's tails and tricks to the sea. So, the older son became captain, and he was soon to become one heck of a pirate.
His name was Adam Mitchel Lambert, and he would change a lot in his new-found captain-hood.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
From the moment of his birth, Adam was introduced to the smell of sea air. His mother, who had been visiting his father on ship during her pregnancy, had given birth on the boat while they were docked at a remote village. Adam was very healthy and looked cute, like any child should be. Normal, too. His mother knew that his destiny was to become like his father and take over the crew once his father had passed, but she didn't like it one bit.
"Eber, my dear, this child.....he doesn't deserve this hard life ahead! Please, let him stay with me on the mainland. I'll teach him everything and make sure he becomes just as powerful, if not more powerful, as he would be on the ship! Please, let me give him a normal life."
Eber, being the cruel pirate he was, shook his head fiercely as his wife, snatching his son from her arms.
"Never. He is my son, my first born, and I shall have him take over for me one day! He is my successor, and he must be ready." And with that, Adam was doomed to his fate as a pirate.
Back in the days Adam was around, pirates were hated and spat upon, for all they would do is spread hurt and steal from villages. Leila had known that Adam, even if she had kept him on land, would have grown up like his father. It was in his blood, and being ruled by her husband's commands, she could do nothing to stop it. He was going to become one of them one day. One of the bad guys.
A pirate.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
From a young age, Adam found a strong liking of the sea and it's wildness. He spent countless trips with his father playing in the water and learning how to do simple things on board the ship like putting up new sails and climbing the tall and rigorous masts to fix things above their reach. It came all too easy to Adam, and as he grew up more, becoming a young man, he began to be able to show his talent.
On the early beginning of nightime of Adam's 13th birthday, he was sailing on his father's ship along side the crew, who were busily working like always, when suddenly a giant wave crashed upon the deck. All men scrambled to their feet, and Adam could hear the faint shouts of panic that came from the men.
"Danger! Danger! Storm's a brewing!" they yelled in the darkness of the storm to one another, making panic course through Adam's veins. In sheer fear of the waves that began crashing down on the small ship, Adam ran to his father, who was struggling to steer the ship and keep it upright. Adam panicked.
"Father, what are we to do? The waves keep ruining the ship and knocking over the crew! Clearly they'll all die soon if we don't do something!"
Just before Eber could reply to his son, a massive wave crashed on the two, knocking them both down and putting them floating in the water on the ship. As the water settled and the two sank back to the deck, Adam noticed the effect the wave had given to his father. He had been knocked unconscious as the wave hit him with all it's force, and now was incapable of doing anything. Seeing how everyone was too busy fighting for their lives to care that the captain was out, Adam realized that it was up to him to save the whole crew. Rain hitting his face forcefully and wind blowing his shaggy black hair also in his face, Adam courageously grabbed the wheel and looked around him for signs of the storm ending.
Suddenly out of the corner of his eye, Adam saw lighter skies about a mile away. Remembering his skills, Adam quickly turned the wheel as hard as he could and begin to yell loud commands to the crew about helping take the ship towards that light. After 30 minutes of the fierce storm, Adam and the ship finally made it to that light, and when there, they had found a small island and a tiny village that lived on it. The townspeople graciously helped the crew repair and aided to their medical needs. Once Eber woke, he embraced his son in a very tight hug and patted his back proudly.
"I'm very proud of you, Adam. Very, very proud."
Adam smiled, a tear in his eye. "Thank you, father."
He couldn't believe that it happened at all, but Adam never complained. He had impressed his father, and knowing that that would mean a hero's feast and party, Adam couldn't be happier.
He was the hero for the first time in his life, and he deserved it. That was the best feeling in the world to Adam at that moment.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Flash forward about a year and a half later to when Adam's 14 and the co-captain. Lately, the crew had been battling this one group of pirates from England who's mission was to stop them. It had been an easy battle for Eber's crew so far, but on that one night, things would never be the same.
It was 4pm on that nice day in August, and Adam had been lounging in his cabin reading a novel he found in his father's office. It spoke of great battles and fights that happened way before he was born, and it was like candy to him. Suddenly, disturbing the quiet of the moment, a knock came on the door. Adam sprang up from his bed and opened it, seeing it be the cook and his assistant. They instantly ran in and locked the door tight, placing furniture and such in front of it frantically. Adam looked at them disgusted, his shirt now covered in grease from their cooking.
"What in the world could you two bloody fools be doing? Don't you know not to disturb me while I read?"
The cook quickly covered Adam's mouth and shushed him. "I'm very sorry for interrupting sir," he whispered, paranoid, "but I'm afraid that the England pirates have come on board and raided the ship! We were given strict orders by the captain to keep you safe and guarded here, even if that means we loose our lives saving you from death."
Adam shuddered and gulped loudly. "My father....is he okay?"
The assistant sadly looked to Adam and shrugged. "I don't even know if we'll be okay."
Scared to death, the three huddled in the corners, hearing massive yells and screams from the deck, some voices sounding familiar. Just then, making Adam yelp, the door-all furniture flying away from it-busted open, revealing a tall pristine man with a large gun, another man flanking him with an equally large gun, and a young boy with dark brown eyes and spiky brown hair who looked deeply frightened and a bit fascinated by Adam. A sense of worry settling in his veins, Adam began to shake in fear.
"You three. State your jobs here on this ship."
The cook nervously looked at the man. "I be just the cook. These two be just my assistants."
The man walked up to Adam and glared him in the eye. "How young are you, boy?"
Adam was scared silent, his mouth not being capable of moving.
"WELL SPEAK, BOY!"
Adam jumped. "14, sir."
The man swallowed loudly and then slowly walked back to the door, huddling the brown-eyed boy close and acknowledging something he had whispered in his ear. He then turned to face them again, this time with a wicked smile on his face. "You men are worthless and unarmed. We shall spare you your lives, but not capture you. Oh, and may I say, good luck surviving...without crew."
As he left with his son and the other person, the man let out a chilling laugh that frightened Adam to death. Clearly, Adam would never forget the cruelness of the tone of his laugh, for it was incredibly fightening and unlike anything he'd ever heard in his life. After 20 minutes of sheer silence, the three walked out from the cabin and crawled up to the deck. What they saw was beyond shocking. Crew were draped everywhere with blood all over them and bullet holes in their chests and heads. Adam gasped.
"Where......DAD????"
There was no reply.
"DAD???? DAD WHERE ARE YOU?"
Out of the corner of his eye, Adam noticed a man slightly move and then fall back to the deck floor in pain.
It was Eber; he was going to die. And soon.
Adam sprinted to him and began crying, his heart about to shatter in fear. "Dad! Please, stay with me Dad!"
Eber slowly lifted his hand and caressed his son's cheek. Then, he spoke what would be the last thing he would ever say to Adam.
"Son..........tell ur Mom I love her.........and remember I love you and Neil...........and...if it's the last thing you do.....avenge me, son. Please, be the man I know.....you can...be. I......love........you......Adam."
And then his eyes shut, and his body went limp. Adam clenched his fists hard and then let out a loud scream. he ran to the edge of the boat and saw the fleeting boat off in the distance, and for a moment, he caught eyes with the man he saw before.
"THIS WON'T BE THE LAST YOU SEE OF ME YOU FILTHY ANIMALS! MY DAD SHALL BE AVENGED! YOU'LL SEE!!!!!! I'LL BE BACK!!!!!!!!!" Adam sunk to the ground crying, his head falling to the deck floor in sadness.
"I will."
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
14 years later, Adam was sailing the ocean blue in search for the England pirates like they always had been, when suddenly one of his new crew members, a young man named Brad, ran up to him excitedly.
"Captain! We have good news!!!!! Hurry, come to your office, now!" Adam sighed and followed, sitting down in his chair tiredly as Brad rambled on. Finally, something he said caught Adam's ear.
"...and we found out where the England people are at!"
Adam gasped and shot up out of his seat. "Where are they, Brad?"
"Not too far from us, actually. Just about a couple miles. Should we fight or leave them be?"
Adam scoffed and yanked his gun from the wall fiercely. "Are you stupid? Yes we are going to fight him! And I have the perfect idea on how to avenge my father."
"Kill the guy who shot him?"
Adam rolled his eyes. "That will be done someday, Brad, but I have a better idea. I learned that the captain had a son named Kristopher and that he takes him with him on all his trips. He's very sacred to the crew and captain, so I thought that the best way to give payback would be to take someone away from them like they did to me.....in this case, the someone being Kristopher. Sound good?"
Brad stood shocked. "Damn good idea. Way better than mine was. So it's settled. We go to the boat, steal the kid, and then keep him forever. I like it!" Brad smiled brightly and then smirked wickedly, giving Adam a chill down his spine.
"What is it, Brad?"
"How are you going to know what he looks like?"
Adam slumped back down into his chair, a look of disappointment. "I have no clue," he sadly said, covering up the truth, "I just heard he had brown hair. That's like saying someone has green eyes. He could be anybody."
Brad quickly reached into his pocket and brought out a small photograph. "Would...this help?"
Shock hit Adam hard, and within seconds he had the picture in his own hands. As he studied the small black and white picture, Adam gulped and studied him closely. It showed Kristopher standing up in a uniform much like the ones the pirates Adam remembered had looked like on the deck of a ship. His hair was short and spikey -yet looked a bit soft in Adam's thoughts-, his face was smooth and unharmed, not a blemish on it, and his body was lean and just a tad bit muscular; pretty much like any normal person would be. Yet, this wasn't just any person, this was the boy he saw those 14 long years ago. The boy who looked so interested in him and scared. A sudden rush of happiness filled Adam, and a small smile reached his lips. Brad smirked.
"You think he's cute, don't you?"
Adam glared at Brad and then looked back down at the photo. Yes, he thought Kristopher looked simply dashing in his uniform and even looked a bit hot, but he knew he couldn't admit it to anyone. Not when it meant his life, or possibly Kristopher's life, was on the line if word got out. And if his only worry was that it would get out, telling Brad his feelings wouldn't be too smart. Brad might be adorable and a great friend, but when it came to secrets, he was greatly weak at keeping them. He simply had no filter and no good judgment on these kind of things. That's all.
"Brad.....just be quiet."
"You do! I know it! You're too easy to read to me, Adam! Now admit it, you think the little guy is cute!"
Placing his left hand on Brad's shoulder, Adam shook his head sternly, his mind yelling at him to stop denying his feelings and tell while his common sense yelled at him why he was keeping in secret.
"No, Brad. No."
"But-"
Suddenly, interrupting the two, a knock came at the door. Swiftly as always, Adam walked to the door and opened it, becoming eye-to-eye with an exhilarated deck hand he had known since he was a young child, Cole. Adam gestured for the young man to come in, but Cole shook his head.
"Sir, you must come and see this with your own two eyes. It be the English men! They're very close to our ship and coming up fast. Are we to intersect their path?"
Gazing down at the photo in his hand one last time nervously, Adam looked fiercely into Cole's eyes, sensing the fear and adrenaline he was experiencing, and then ran out of the room, running all the way up on deck and to the far edge of the ship where most of his men were crowding. Once he successfully had pushed through the mini-crowd, Adam noticed the ship on the horizon with a giant sail and dark wooden structure.
It was them. The ship he'd been looking for all these years. The men who had killed his father.
"MEN," Adam sternly yelled to the crowd, forcing all of them to turn and pay attention to Adam, "these people.....they are the reason we are here searching....the reason we've wasted almost 14 years of our bloody lives on the sea! The reason we risk our lives fighting and toiling with other ships! This......this may be the most important battle of our lives. It must be swift and without error, for the margin of error here is vastly small, and error would ruin everything if one was to be made. These men are frightful and will try anything to scare you. But men, you need to get on and then get off with something in your hands. Guns from fallen men, blasting powder you find with their cargo....anything. It will aid us greatly and would lessen their chances of surviving on the sea much longer. Also, stay clear of the captain and his son...who captain Brad and I will kidnap and make prisoner here. The captain is armed and dangerous, so leave him to me and me only. Understand?"
All of the men nodded confidently and then ran for their weapons. Adam rested his hands on the ship's edge and again gazed at the ship fiercely. Brad came next to him and sighed.
"Let me guess, I have to capture the boy, huh?"
Adam nodded. "Without a scratch on him, Bradly. I've got.....special plans for him."
Brad smirked and then patted Adam on the back. "I know you do, Adam. I'll take care of the boy. Now, hand me that picture. Without it, I could capture an old bearded guy by mistake!"
Adam rolled his eyes and handed his hat to Brad, letting his hair wave untamed in the wind.
"Brad, run off and prepare for battle, will you?"
Understandingly, Brad scurried off, leaving Adam alone.
Oh how I hope this goes well. Father, wherever you may be, please, help me in this fight. Please.
A passing gull squawked loudly as it passed, and Adam smiled lightly at it as it landed near him.
"The quiet before the storm, huh buddy?"
The gull squawked again, this time ruffling it's feathers.
"I see. Well, you better run along, buddy. Things are about to get ugly here."
Again, it squawked, looking at Adam and then flying off the ship and away above the sea. Adam sighed deeply.
I hope Kristopher doesn't hate me for this. I really think he's cute. Things could turn out nice between us. Well, guess it's time to find out.
Adam caught sight of the boat's crew, and sure enough, he could see the captain clearly, this time his hair all gray and ragged. He eyed Adam cautiously and then stormed off yelling orders.
It was now or never.
Survive and not only fulfill his father's last command, but get who could be Adam's future husband, or fail, and never succeed in the request or possibly lose it all.....even....his life.
Now, only time and luck could tell his fate.
It was time.
To be continued........
