Long way from Conway (38/?)
Jan. 30th, 2011 05:03 pmThanks to
A/N: Sorry for later update! I was so busy this week and had no time and everything, so I've been busily working away! :) I hope you like this. It's kinda rushed and more of a filler chapter than a plot chapter. But, I hope you enjoy!
"Adam, Kris, this is David," Leila said worriedly as the boys and the undercover cop greeted each other in the warm light of their living room. They had just arrived, and already Leila couldn't take it. Her boys were finally getting happy and now it was going to all crumble down.
Sometimes, she just hated the real world.
"Boys, I have some......troubling news. According to my sources, one of you is in big danger of getting killed by a certain girl working for Crystal. Now, do any of you have an idea of who she may be targeting?"
Adam gasped, his face now flushed pale. "Me."
Kris shook his head in disbelief. "No....no....she can't do that! No!"
David nodded sadly. "She can, and she probably will try. The girl's name that works for her is Hailey."
"Hailey?" Adam shrieked. "I thought she was on our side! Brad and all them said so before!"
"Supposing all of them are your friends, they were deceived. Hailey has a gun from Crystal, and....thanks to one of the worst cops in my division, I lost possession of it and it's in their hands."
Suddenly, there was a knock on the front door. Leila quickly went to answer the door, finding Brad standing at the door with a worried look.
"Hi Mrs. Lambert. I need to speak to Adam, if I'm not interrupting..."
Adam motioned him in. "What's up, Brad?"
"Crystal told Hailey that she's going to have to kill you in 3 weeks, Adam. Tommy was watching and he reported everything to me just an hour ago." Brad took a deep breath. "We don't have much time to try to stop her."
"Why three weeks?" David asked suspiciously. Brad shrugged.
"I don't know. Tommy didn't say."
"Well that's odd," David replied. "Usually people have a reason for setting a certain date."
Leila groaned in frustration. "I don't flippin care if there's a reason, I just want my baby to be safe!"
Adam got up and hugged her tight, trying to calm her with every second. "Mom, I'll be okay."
"No you won't! Not with that psycho getting ready to kill you! Especially since the dumb police at that station aren't watching her AT ALL! I mean, can't we do something about that???"
"Nope," David replied, "she isn't our responsibility. If we try to mess with the police...well....let's just say that things will be bad if we do."
"So is it just hopeless?" Kris spoke up with a grim face. "Because the way we're talking it sounds like it."
"Yeah," Brad agreed, "it sounds like we can't do a flippin thing about this accept wait for her to come, and I'm sure as hell not going to stand for this if it is."
David sighed. "If we can't convince Hailey to not go through with this, it is hopeless."
"We can only hope for a miracle, guys."

The silence of the night troubled Crystal as she lay in her cell bed. She was cold, alone, and nervous beyond belief, for her plans and her baby.
The baby, according to the jail doctor, was doing okay. She didn't have any defects as far as they could see and her vitals were immaculate. Food sucked, yes, but Crystal was actually pretty healthy, and she hoped to stay that way, regardless of her stress about everything and the craziness of jail life.
One thing that stressed her out was the fact that the baby was Kris's. If he were to retaliate after Adam was gone and ask for the baby's custody, Crystal would have to give her up. Even worse, if Hailey didn't kill Adam and they found out about the baby, she'd have to and have to face Adam's wrath.
She needed him dead.
Her loneliness getting to her, Crystal placed her hand on her stomach and began to talk to her baby.
"Hey kid, it's your momma speaking. I, uh....I kinda want to know what you think I should do. Should I kill Adam myself instead of waiting for Hailey? Or should I trust her?"
Silence made Crystal sigh deeply.
"Of course you wouldn't answer. Ugh, I just want this over with! Why must Kris not want me? Why does he want that ugly pretty-boy Adam? Why can't he just be mine?"
Crystal frowned and snuggled up to her pillow.
"You must hate me, huh? Talking about killing someone in front of you. And....and talking about hurting your father's feelings..." Crystal began to cry.
"I'm so horrible."
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
The next day, Kris was leaning against his old locker watching many couples freaking out about going to the junior dance when suddenly, he was pressed against the locker by Adam, getting his mind blown by him. Their bodies were centimeters apart, arms wrapped around each other tightly, and their tongues were intertwined. Finally, Adam pulled away. letting Kris breath.
"Wha....what was that for?" Kris sputtered breathlessly.
"To try and sway your answer."
"Answer for what?"
Adam smirked, his blue eyes sparkling in the dim hallway light. "Answer for if you will go to the dance with me."
Kris smiled. "You think you did a good enough job?"
"Well, I enjoyed it, so I must have done something right."
Pulling him close, Kris once again joined their lips. He knew in the back of his mind that the dance possibly could be Adam's last if Hailey did what she was told, and he also knew he wouldn't be able to live with himself if he never went to a dance with Adam.
Gently, he pulled away. "I'd love to go with you to the dance, Adam."
A beautiful smile graced Adam's face, and his heart swelled with joy. He didn't even think about Crystal at the moment. He just thought about the fact that he would share a dance or two with his beautiful boyfriend in front of all the haters and all the jealous people of their school. Giving a slight and subtle tap to Kris's butt, Adam left Kris and strutted down the hall like the tease he was.
Man do I wish Crystal wasn't being so stupid.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Kim Allen hadn't really been affected with how Kris had been spending more time at Adam's than at home. She knew they wanted to be close and stuff considering Crystal was going mad. Neil hadn't been affected either.
When Leila came to her door, she became affected.
"Leila, come in."
"Kim, Crystal's going to kill Adam in 3 weeks and we can't do anything but hope that the girl that is going to kill her stops! I have no clue what to do!!!! You have to help me, Kim!"
Kim became speechless. "Calm down, sweetie. Come sit down at the kitchen table with me, I'll make a cup of coffee so we can talk things over, okay?"
Leila nodded.and walked into the nice, warm house. She walked in and got into the kitchen-mentally pledging to get nicer kitchen utensils-perfectly fine, but the second she sat down she couldn't help but cry. Kim quickly began the coffee maker and then sat down in front of Leila, leaning in intently with a warm expression for the moment. She knew she had to be gentle. "Okay, so, tell me what exactly is going on."
"Okay," Leila said, taking in a deep breath, "well, first, it all started with a report from my friend David. He's an undercover cop who I hired to try to protect the boys and find out how to stop Crystal from hurting them even while she's in jail. He came and told us yesterday that he lost possession of a potential murder weapon of hers because of a dumb cop. He tried to find it but he can't so far. Anyway, then Brad, Adam's friend if you haven't met him, came in with information that Crystal was planning on killing Adam in three weeks. The worst part is that Crystal isn't doing it herself, she's forcing this poor girl named Hailey to kill him. Kim," Leila choked out, "if we don't find a way to convince Hailey not to do this, there's almost nothing we can do."
Kim sat silent with a few tears trailing down her face. Sniffing them away, she stood up and walked out the room abruptly. Leila was confused.
"Kim? Kim, where are you going?"
When she came back, Kim was in a nice coat and had shoes on, her eyes set determinedly as she turned off the coffee maker. Leila cleared her throat.
"Kim," she repeated, "where are you going?"
"We are going to make stuff happen, whether this girl likes it or not. Come on, get it in gear."
Huh? Leila thought as she was pulled to her feet and nearly forced out of the small house. Is she seriously thinking about doing what I think she's thinking? Seriously?????
Seriously??????
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"I'm sorry," Crystal sobbed into her pillow as she heard the cops walk in the hallway, "I'm so sorry baby girl."
She had been crying for at least three hours saying the same words over and over again, and by now, the cops were getting sick of it. So, they decided to check her out. They came up to her cell with annoyance written all over their face.
"Hey dog," Tryland, the taller and more masculine cop sneered, "get the hell up so we can see your pretty little figure."
Crystal growled. "You know I have no figure anymore."
"We can always change that," the other cop, Ferline, quipped. Crystal instinctively wrapped her hands around her stomach and sent them a death glare.
"Stay away from my baby. I mean it."
Tryland laughed. More like barked, but oh well. "You little baby. I sure hope that baby in you decides to go into the more sexy line of work. Would love to see what spawn you produce with that gorgeous figure."
"Go fall in a hole, Tryland. My baby girl will not do anything of the sort and she will not ever serve you for ANY reason." Crystal sighed. "Her father wouldn't let her."
Ferline let out a huge snort. "Yeah, like her father would be there for her. Face it, girl. If that baby daddy doesn't claim this kid, she's going to stay right here in jail, and I have a feeling that from the looks of you, he's probably with some other chick in the backseat of a Toyota cracking out another!"
Crystal gasped, being totally ignored as the two idiots high-fived and cackled to themselves.
"I MAY have done some things wrong in my past, I MAY have totally screwed up stuff, I MAY have purposely gotten pregnant from a gay guy just so I can get him away from his gross fiance', and I MAY be locked up in here forever, but I know one thing. The baby's father would LOVE her if he knew about her and she is NOT going to live in here for her whole life because of ME! Now, GET THE HECK AWAY FROM MY CELL!"
Ferline just snorted again. "Fine. Just don't come apologizing to me when it does happen."
As they left, Crystal slowly sank back down in her bed and went back into her crying spell.
She just couldn't help but think she was getting herself into something this baby didn't need.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Adam could see Kris's figure down the hall, talking happily to a girl he'd seen in his math class, and he nearly pounced right then. His sleek figure in the sunlight, his golden brown hair shining even brighter, his skin-tight jeans looking even more skin-tight than usual; it all was just too much for him to handle. In a few days summer would approach, the dance would come, and for once, Crystal would become the last thing on their mind.
Was he frightened that he was first in line in the Crystal 'death row' list? Hell yeah. Could he bear to let that show any more to Kris? Hell no.
Soon, the sleek figure and that girl came walking towards him, and Adam put on his charm wall. Kris smirked and hugged him at his waist. The girl just blushed and walked away timidly.
"What's her problem?" He asked at a whisper. Kris giggled like a child.
"She thinks you are a god, Adam. It's completely innocent, but she's sooooo intimidated by you."
Adam laughed. "Well, I am pretty freakin hot..."
"Sure."
"And I am stunningly handsome..."
"Maybe."
"And I am very sexy..."
Kris smirked. "Now I can't disagree with that. Anyway, I was thinking, do you have any ideas for an outfit for the prom? i was thinking tonight we could go and-"
"Oh crap," Adam groaned, "we can't go out. Well, I can't."
"Why?"
"My Mom won't let me out of the house unless I'm at school," he replied in his best mock-annoyance voice, "because she thinks the big bad monster will come and eat me! Ahhh!"
Soon, the two were chuckling and walking down the hall hand in hand. Kris didn't ever want this to end. It was clear they'd be together forever, but that three week deadline was slowly getting to him. In three weeks, Adam could be gone forever. In three weeks, he may be trapped by Crystal.
In three weeks, his whole life could crumble down.
And nothing could stop it accept for Hailey...
