Long way from Conway (17 part 1/?)
Jul. 27th, 2010 01:05 pmA/N: Sorry for the LONG wait, but real life has been very busy for me currently, so...enjoy this long chapter!
Transitioning from small, quiet, peaceful Conway, Arkansas to hectic, humongous, loud Los Angles, California wasn't easy at all for Adam and Kris. Especially after all that had just happened with Crystal just that morning. Since Eber was at work and Leila was with a few of her friends, Adam and Kris were forced to drive in their car home-something Adam wasn't looking forward to, his nerves still a bit frazzled. Speeding down the last street before his house, Adam spotted all of his volleyball girlfriends walking down the street and heading straight for a Skin Graft store only feet away. Without even speaking, Adam looked Kris dead in the eyes with the best puppy dog look possible-one Kris absolutely could not say no to.
Desperate times call for desperate measures.
For a moment, Kris fought to not look even in Adam's direction in hopes to not crack, but after a minute of that face, blue eyes starring at him beautifully, Kris caved. "Curse you, Adam."
Adam clapped his hands gleefully and then sped off towards the store. "I love you, Krissy! This will be fun, I swear!"
"Whatever you say, Lambert."
I'm dead.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Walking into the large store, Kris felt almost under-dressed as he gazed at men wearing hard-core leather jackets, women with outrageous coats, and even kids with crazy outfits. Yup, Kris thought as he looked at a full feather-covered hat, I'm not in Conway anymore.
Moments later, Adam and him came up to the group of girls, each one looking at them incredulously. Gabby was, as always, the first of them to talk.
"OMG Adam! Are you okay?"
"Huh?" Adam said, a bit of worry trickling into his stomach, "Why wouldn't I be....."
Gabby scoffed and flipped her hair out of her face femininely. "Uh, duh! You and your boy got attacked by that psycho Crystal this morning! That's serious stuff right there!"
Kris nearly choked on air. "W-WHAT?"
"H-how do you three know about that?"
Casey pointed to a TV that was hanging on the wall only feet from them. It was on the local news channel, and they happened to be the top story: 'Crystal Watson-Caught'. Their jaws dropped in seconds, panicked looks on their now pale faces.
"Breaking news now that hits quite close to home here in L.A.! Local ex-student of Mt. Carmel High Crystal Watson, the girl who had broken out of prison only a little while ago, has since re-appeared, and with that re-appearance, Crystal has threatened the lives of two young men. Those two young men were fellow students Adam Lambert and Kris Allen, who were on a trip to Conway, Arkansas to visit friends of theirs up there when Crystal attacked them. According to sources, the two boys had been attacked by her many times before this, and now, she has pulled the ultimate stunt on them. Attempted murder. She came into the friend's house and began shooting at them furiously, when suddenly right before she was going to pull the trigger on the boys, a large man came and pinned her down just long enough for the boys to be safe and for cops to reach her in time. So far, we know that the boys are back in L.A. and are safe, thanks to that man. When we have more, we will tell immediately."
Kris gasped loudly, refocusing the girl's attention on him. "Well heck, there's not much more to tell!"
Adam nodded, his face growing more red with embarrassment by the seconds. "Not. At. All."
"Uh Adam," Jamie said quietly, "who gave them permission to tell this story?"
"Not my family or me."
"Same here," Kris said blankly, his eyes glued on Adam. "Well....what are we going to do?"
Adam shrugged his arms and placed his arm around Kris's shoulder lovingly, clutching Kris's small body very close to his own. "I don't know. Go home? Hide for the rest of our freakin lives?"
Sending Adam a bit of a death glare for the joking around at a time like this, Kris pathetically spoke to him, tiny tears falling from the corners of his eyes and falling on his shirt. "Why the hell does this have to come out? Just when things start to get better, boom, they don't and something comes and ruins everything! Gosh, can we get some privacy? Can't we just have a normal life together? You know, without people chasing us, beating us up, or random things happening to us for no reason? Because I'm really...P.O.'ed about this if you know what I mean!"
In an attempt to console Kris, Adam hugged him tight and pressed small, light kisses on his cheek. Jamie couldn't help but begin to feel light tears fall from her eyes too from all the sadness radiating off of Kris. Suddenly, Kris broke out into sobs, his cute face becoming stained by tons of tears. Wanting to cuddle him so bad, Adam excused him and Kris from the girls and walked with Kris into their bathroom, sitting down in the large wheelchair stall and hugging Kris close to his chest as he cried his heart out. It was the least he could do for his boyfriend.
"Kris......sweetie, this isn't the end of the world! We just get someone to pull the story off camera and ta-da! No more story!"
Kris stared at Adam for a second and then dropped his head on top of Adam's shoulder sadly. "But I'm sure at least half of L.A. has seen the story already, Adam. They'd just not be saying anything new. And besides......I'm more mad that now everyone's gonna stare at us than the fact everyone knows about it. They're gonna see us passing down the halls and go "There's Kris and Adam, the two gay guys who almost got killed by a freak show cheerleader!". Do you know how bad that sounds? Do you know how bad that is to our rep? Focus on this, Adam: we're in high school! There's about 1000 kids that I swear may just kick our butt for getting attacked by a GIRL!"
"They may feel sorry for us, though, and be nice to us."
"Yeah right," Kris scoffed, burring his face deeper in Adam's shoulder, "like everyone's going to be all loving of two gay guys who got attacked by a cheerleader."
"Will you stop saying that like it's such a bad thing?" Kris's head bolted upright at Adam's harsh tone, seeing his normally calm blue eyes fierce and angry. "All you're saying is that just because we're gay that it's going to sound even worse that we got beat up by a girl? Seriously, Kris? Do you know what we've been through? Heck, we could kick everyone's butt if you compare what we've been through to what they've been through! Kris, we've both been beat up senselessly by people, we've been almost killed, we've both practically come out of the closet, and hell, we've even had sex! Now, that's definitely a whole heck of a lot of tough stuff if you're asking me! All those cheerleaders and jocks and average kids, well, they probably couldn't take that kind of stuff without breaking down, giving up, and acting all helpless! We're different, though! We've gone through all of that without once giving up hope, our love, or our determination! Kris, we need to keep it that way. We can't let this....story define ourselves for the rest of high school or our lives! If we ever want to become something, we need to blow this off! Forget it! Move on and not let this bother us! Do you understand me clearly?"
Frozen by his thoughts, Kris just stared at Adam quietly, old tears beginning to dry on his face. After what seemed like forever, Kris finally spoke to Adam, his voice quiet and almost unintelligible to Adam.
"Yeah....I d-do. I-I'm sorry, Adam. Truly sorry. Please....can we just..go home. Please?"
Kissing a tear off Kris's smooth face, Adam nodded and gave Kris a light kiss on the lips.
Damn, I went too hard on him. I didn't want him to apologize or feel guilty! I was just trying to amp him up! Make him stop freaking out! Now, I've just made him more sad and super guilty. Go me.
"Of course we can, sweetie. I love you, Kris. Do you love me back, sweetie?"
Kris looked up at Adam warily, his eyes showing all the sadness he truely felt. Placing a small hand on Adam's shoulder, Kris nodded and took Adam's hands tightly in his own.
"I do love you. Very much, you silly boy. Now come on, I want to go home. Your mom and dad must be freaking out by now. Heck, I'm surprised we never got a call!"
Just then, Adam's phone did ring, sending the two into spiral of laughter as they left the stall, hand in hand, strong smiles upon their faces.
Screw Crystal. Adam and I are meant to be. She can just go get hit by a bus or something, because I'm never going to leave him! What a dog......
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
For the past few minutes, Leila had been a complete train wreck. Ever since she heard the report about what had happened to the boys with Crystal. Yeah, she still wanted to kill them herself for not calling about it, but she still was scared and worried for them. She actually was scared equally for the both of them, for ever since she had to take care of him when he got beat up before, she considered him part of the family. He was just as much of a child of hers to her as Adam and Neil were, so instead of it being scary dealing with one kid involved, this was a nightmare with two kids. At 3:30, Leila-who was anxiously waiting near the door-heard the slam of car doors come from not too far away. She didn't even check to see if it were the boys, for she just knew that it was them. Running out into the driveway, Leila blindsided Adam with a giant hug and a kiss, tears and all streaming down her face relieved. Adam returned the hug, gently rubbing her back and pressing small kisses to her cheek soothingly.
"Mom....please don't cry, Mom. I'm fine!"
"But you almost weren't, honey! Adam, don't ever scare me like that again! Never ever! Understood?"
"Understood," Adam replied muffled into his mother's hair, quiet laughs coming from her. Pulling away, Leila shook her head astonished, her eyes wide.
"Not a scratch on you. Wow. I'm so glad you're both okay. I don't know what I would do if...well....you had been...." Not being able to hide any more of her sadness, Leila bursted into tears, hugging Adam close while Kris wrapped his arm around her shoulders.
Kris was next to hug her tight, earning a kiss on the cheek and a ruffling of the hair from Leila. He pulled back a bit when she did the hair thing, but being the country boy he was, Kris acted polite and said nothing.
"Sorry Kris, I just always wanted to do that," she said through some tears as they walked back to the house with their bags.
"Adam was beginning to make me jealous."
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
*Flash forward to the next morning*
Kris was never a heavy sleeper in his life. he usually could hear people talk or a TV going on in the next room and be woken up for hours trying to sleep. But when woken up on Monday morning, Kris came to a pleasant surprise, seeing, more like hearing, Adam singing a quiet little tune just inches from him while running his hand through Kris's hair, a wide grin on his face.
"Well hello there," Kris said while rubbing his eyes, "I liked your song. What was that?"
"Oh nothing. Just a little tune."
"No," Kris stubbornly replied, "I want to know the name of it! That wasn't just any tune! I can tell."
"How?"
"You can't sing a tune and look at me like that without it not meaning anything. I know you better than that, Adam."
A geeky grin spread across Adam's face, followed by a quiet chuckle of amusement. "Fine. If you must know, it was a song I wrote for you....well, about you."
Kris raised his eyebrow curiously, his bottom lip unknowingly giving him a pouting look-one that Adam loved. Seeing it, Adam couldn't help but tell him the title.
"It's called Broken Open. I thought that maybe since today in music class we have to start working on making the actual song that I could get a head start while my brain is actually working and rested." Kris giggled. "So, I kind of came up with this on the spot while watching you sleep."
With a cheeky smile, Kris placed a tiny kiss on Adam's palm, pausing a moment before looking up at Adam's gorgeous baby blues, which he knew he would get lost in like always. And he did, for about 3 minutes. He just stared into them, and Adam just smirked and almost petted his hair, warmly chuckling as Kris got out of his little reverie.
"So," Kris said a bit shaky, "I inspire you?"
Adam chuckled. "Apparently so. Anyway mister, what's your song called?"
Kris blushed and snuggled up to Adam's chest, a quiet giggle barely escaping his lips. "Let it Rain. I just feel like it sums up a lot about us. You know...with Crystal and and all of this. You'll see. I already wrote the words. I just have to put them into song and all that. You on the other hand are like a complete opposite, huh?"
"Kind of," he said with a smirk, "I sort of have some lyrics in mind. We'll just have to see what I come up with, huh?"
"I guess so. Well, we better get down to breakfast. The bus comes up in a few."
"Yeah," Kris said as he hopped out of bed. After getting ready, the boys ran down to breakfast, where Leila had made them both scrambled eggs and toast as a "Welcome home/Glad you're alive" present. Halfway through the meal, Neil walked out from his room and sat at the table next to Kris, gazing at his food silently-a rarity for Neil. Finally, Adam said something.
"Neil, what the heck is up? You haven't spoke once since you came out here!"
Neil stared up at Adam and then back at his food. "Nothing. Just shut up."
Leila walked over to Neil and sat down next to him, a bit of concern on her face. "Neil honey, what's wrong?"
He couldn't refuse his mother's question. "I'm just....scared. About today. What if because Adam and Kris almost got killed by a girl I start getting made fun off or bullied? You know, for being in a family who, to some of them, may be called 'wimps'?"
Leila looked up at Adam for help on that, which he easily agreed on giving. "Neil....you won't be bullied. And if you do, just ignore them first and stick up for yourself if they go on more. You're freakin awesome, little dude, and I think you don't deserve to be beaten up. You'll do great, Neil."
For once, Neil had nothing negative or joking to his brother. All he did was give Adam a big hug and then take his breakfast into his room, running off with a small smile on his face. Kris and Leila both gave Adam warm smiles when he looked back at them.
"Honey, you did great with your brother. I'm really proud of you." Leila then hugged Adam tight, patting him on the back happily. Just then, the bus's horn honked, and within seconds, the boys ran outside to the bus, hopping on quickly and both saying a small apology to the driver for being a bit late.
The last thing they needed was to be in trouble.
Once in the back of the bus, Kris was almost immediately hit by a giant hug from his brother Daniel that almost knocked him over. Kris laughed and pulled away a bit.
"Well hello, Dan!"
"Hello? My gosh, I was so scared! You almost died!"
Kris rolled his eyes. "Thanks for clearing that up, Daniel."
"Well sorry, but when my little bro almost dies, I think I have permission to freak out, man! My gosh, Mom and I were freaked! I swear, I almost called you!"
"Wait," Kris said a bit disappointed, "just Mom and you?"
"Yeah, why?"
"Dad didn't even care I almost died.......?"
Daniel looked down at his feet and shook his head. "He said that it was just God's way of proving why being with Adam will kill you. Mom fought for you again."
"And let me guess," Kris sulked, "she lost again?"
"Bingo."
Suddenly, Adam pulled Kris close and whispered in his ear. "Stop thinking about this, sweetie. Let's just have a good day, okay? I have a surprise later."
"Ooooooh, surprise," Kris said sarcastically, earning a slap on the arm from Adam, resulting in a few giggles from them. Daniel smiled at them and turned his attention to his cell phone for the next few minutes, while Adam and Kris played around on Adam's iPod, oblivious to everyone else in the bus. After about 15 minutes, the bus reached school, and Kris and Adam seemed to almost blend in rather than be the top news because of the story. Everyone seemed to ignore them-or at least not crowd around them-and the day seemed to be going fine. That was, until Math. The one class Adam and Kris didn't have together. Usually, Adam would hang out with Casey and Gabby, for they were the only people he really knew in normal Math, but today, the volleyball team had gone off on a trip to some volleyball event off in Miami, Florida in which they would then go to Disney World while there.
Frankly, Adam would rather be with them than where he was now.
Because today of all days was partner day-the day where the person who sat next to you had to raffle off equations and basically quiz you for the whole period-, and since Gabby was gone and Casey wasn't in her normal seat by, of all people, the football quarterback, Luke Rogers, Adam was forced to be his partner. For the beginning of class sitting next to him, Adam wasn't too uncomfortable sitting by him. Yeah, he had to admit Luke was cute, so it wasn't as bad as it seemed.
Or so he thought.
When it came time to the actual 'doing math' part, Luke didn't know a thing about math. Heck, he couldn't even count right! Finally, Adam just had to ask about this.
"Why the hell are you in high school if you can't count?"
"Why should you be asking that, gay boy?"
Rolling his eyes, Adam kept on. "Seriously, why?"
"Because I have geeks like you do my work for me. It worked great in Middle School!"
"Well this isn't Middle School, dude, and if I were you, I'd get my crap in gear and learn before you lose any sports awards you may get! They don't just hand people scholarships these days, you know!"
Luke sighed and folded his arms on the table. "I seriously didn't pay any attention to what you said right there."
"Not one bit?"
"Nothing."
"Marvelous."
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
As lunch came around, Adam just about sprinted over into Kris's arms and sent him flying into his chair, showering him with kisses. Finally when Adam needed to break away for air, Kris pulled away and held Adam away.
"What is up with you, mister? You're acting like a puppy!"
"Am I a cute puppy?"
"Does it matter?"
"It does to me...."
"Fine. You're a cute puppy."
"Yay I'm cute!"
"Yes you are. Okay, now-"
"Am I a good puppy?"
"Will you shut-"
Just then, Daniel walked up to the two and sat at the table with his lunch, happily staring at the two look at him blankly.
"What?" He said curiously. "Am I interrupting something?"
"Possibly," Kris said a bit annoyed, "but you can stay."
Daniel smirked at his little brother menacingly, his eyes flickering from Kris to Adam. "What exactly were you fighting about?"
"Me being a puppy."
Daniel stared at them for a few seconds and then got up, confusing the boys immediately.
"Where are you going?" Kris asked a little too frantically. Daniel shook his head and began to walk away, and just before he got too far for them to be able to hear him, he turned around and with a smile, said this farewell to them:
"Don't want to get into that mess! You two cats have fun and cat fight now! I'll be over here if you need me! Adios!"
Slowly, Kris turned to Adam to see him smiling a bit nervously at him, his eyes playful.
"Meow?"
"Oh, what am I going to do with you?"
------------------------------------------------------------------------
A little while later, it was time for music, and Kris and Adam couldn't have been more excited for it after their conversation earlier. Since their teacher was busy, he had put an assignment on the board for everyone to read and then do. It said today "Begin to write your songs on piece of paper and when I am back at the end of class, I will take them so we can read them together tomorrow. Take your time and make sure they stick to the topic of your title!" in large red letters
Kris smiled and wrapped his arm around Adam's tightly as they walked over to their seats. When sitting, the two both took out papers and their pencils and began to write.
Well, Kris did.
Adam quietly sat watching Kris, not being able to take his eyes of him for even a second. Time went on, and before Adam knew it, Kris was done writing his down.
"Wow," Adam said in shock, "you finished?"
"Yeah," he proudly stated as he looked at his papers, "I'm all finished! What about you?"
"Well, I wrote the title down..."
"Oh Adam," Kris said, wrapping his arms around Adam comfortingly, "you'll get this! Just think about this morning. Remember how you said that I inspired you and all that. Why don't you elaborate on that? I bet that could get your juices flowing!"
Adam stared grinning at Kris. "Must I even tell you how odd that lasts sentence sounded?"
"Shut up and write, Adam."
"Okay, okay."
A few minutes later, the teacher came in and smiled warmly at everyone.
"Hello everyone," he said in his loud booming voice, "I sure hope you are done or close to finishing because it's time to turn in your songs! Please, come up and hand them in to me as you all leave. Class dismissed!"
Kris worriedly gazed at Adam as he frantically wrote the last few words on his paper. What if he messes up and ruins the song just because he's rushing? What if he fails? Oh gosh, that would kill him. Especially because it's about me. Dang.
Suddenly, Adam hopped up and ran to the teacher, proudly handing in his paper with a large grin.
"Here, sir! All finished and ready to be read tomorrow!"
The teacher smirked and nodded politely at Adam, seeing how excited he was to turn that it. Kris, having to carry Adam's things since he just ran out of the classroom without them, stumbled over to the teacher and kindly handed over his song.
"H-here you go sir! Here's my paper."
Taking the paper from Kris's only free hand, the teacher nodded understandingly and sent Kris on his way. As Kris frantically searched for Adam in the hallway, his luck turned and he practically lost Adam in the sea of people. Kris just decided to resort to standing by their lockers and waiting for Adam to come running up to him. Sure enough, he did, and what a smile he had on his face! Kris couldn't help but laugh.
"You look happy! Why?"
"I love the song I wrote and I know you will too and I really can't wait to have you hear it!"
"Well," Kris said as he opened his locker and shoved his books into it, "can you sing it to me?"
"Nope," Adam said happily, "it's a surprise!"
"A surprise?"
"Yup! A surprise...." Slowly, Adam reached into his pocket and smirked as he saw Kris's confused expression in the mirror of his own locker when he saw what he took out. It was a ring box, and Adam quickly opened it to reveal a beautiful silver ring inside that was shimmering in the light from the windows. Kris gasped and covered his mouth immediately, his breath taken away.
".....just like this." Adam continued as he slid the ring on to Kris's right hand ring finger, watching in amusement as Kris looked it over shocked.
"You.....you........oh my gosh I love you!" Instantly, Kris hugged Adam and kissed his lips passionately, tiny happy tears falling down his face.
"I love you too, Kris."
Kris shook his head, still shocked, and wrapped his arms around Adam's neck.
"Surprise, surprise, huh?" he said with a laugh.
"Hehe, yup!"
"You're perfect."
"So are you, my love. Now come on, we got to head off to Spanish."
"Fine. But can we leave early and head off to the bathroom? I kind of....well....want to return this favor to you...."
With a smirk and a quick nod, the two headed off to class, hands intertwined and rings proudly shinning on their fingers.
Surprise, surprise.

Date: 2010-07-27 08:16 pm (UTC)Okay, they are semi-public about it. Everyone kind of gets the clue that they're dating, but it's not like they can flaunt it everywhere they go. I mean, they do kiss in front of classmates and do cling to each other's side almost everywhere, but they haven't yet said to people in the school "we're together". So, it's implied, but not said. (how's that for an explanation? lol)
:D It will be as soon as I can write it! Oh, and for the 2nd one I'm planning tomorrow or the next day. Since I've been really busy lately, idk, but it won't take long. If delayed, then it'd be Friday I suppose, but I don't think it'll take that long. I have it all planned out so luckily that saves up time :)

Date: 2010-07-30 03:34 am (UTC)am glad u ROFL with my comment (LOL)... I really sucked at making people laugh in my RL :)
so, I re-read this part again (like always..LOL) and came across this line:
"Because I'm really...P.O.'ed about this if you know what I mean!"
- uh...seriously I don't know this sentences mean. help me writer? :)
I didn't know a jocker can be that nice to gay people (refer to the person who pair with Adam in Math class). I though they are the first people who like to bully other student especially gay people in schools. If this good situation going to be continued, I hope you can add their character more in next chapter :)
and hope u have a good weekend writer (LOL) :)
Re: You CRACKED me up (LMAO)
LOL well, congrats on being funny :D
Hahaha like always :P Anyway, basically Kris is pissed off :P lol just to put it short! :D
Well, that jock is just too dumb to care :P I mean, he can barely add, how can he even have the brains to think about bullying Adam :P idk maybe he will make an appearance again-I have no clue right now, though! lol
lol thanks :D U too!
