"Kris babe," Adam murmured as he held Kris in his arms, "only thirty minutes 'till our one year anniversary. Can you believe it?"
Really, Kris couldn't. More than a year ago, he was just a little country boy in a small town somewhere in Arkansas married to Katy and being a lone singer in a town full of workers and business owners. Now, Kris was a singer/songwriter about to put out his second album married to Adam and living in L.A. in Adam's beautiful townhouse.
"Nope."
"Hey, remember our first meeting?" Adam snuggled Kris close and kissed his forehead.
"How could I not, Krissifer? That was a great day."
"Yeah. I guess it was some sort of sign by the universe that we were to be together now."
The two shared a long kiss and sighed, holding each other's hands in their own.
"Thank God for the universe," Adam mumbled as he ran his fingers through Kris's smooth brown hair lovingly.
"Thank God indeed."

Now, you'd think the couple's first meeting was on Idol when they were sharing a room and were rounding up the top two spots in the competition.
You'd think.
Flashback- San Diego, California: Summer of 1992
"Kris, it'll be okay! It was either this or having to sit with one year old babies all day. Now, you get to be with 9 and 10 year old kids! Wouldn't that be fun?"
Kris looked at his mom and grumbled, folding his arms and letting his hair fall in his face. "Mommy, I don't want to be with big kids. They are mean!"
The two sauntered down the long hallway inside the local day care in L.A. to find at the end a big green room with tons of kids in it playing. Oh man, were they crazy! Some were singing loudly at the top of their lungs to some song on the TV, some were drawing on big pieces of cardboard and getting paint all over them, and some were playing four square in the corner. Kris's eyes flashed to a kid who was sitting alone in the corner by the only window in the room, looking at a big sketch pad and every few seconds writing down something on it. His hair was bright strawberry-blond and he wasn't looking too popular with nobody near him at all according to Kris.
"Okay Kris, it's time for Mommy to go! Now, be good, I'll be back in 3 hours. Be good and don't cause any trouble!"
"Bye Mommy."
Within seconds, Kris was alone. Suddenly, a tall boy, who looked more like 14 than 9 or 10 years old bumped into Kris, almost knocking Kris down.
"Oh, sorry mister. I didn't see-"
"You want me to make you not see, jerk!?"
Kris froze in place and gulped. "Um....no, mister. I said I'm sorr-"
"Sorry????? Ha! I don't take any sorry from nobody!" All Kris could see was a fist pinning him to the wall and another fist in the air right in front of his face. He screamed and began to cry.
"Help!!!!"
Before the boy could move an inch forward to hit him, Kris saw the boy from the corner pushing the bully away from Kris and telling him off.
"Stay away from him! He's only FIVE years old! You lay a hand on him, I'll make you cry so hard not even your mom will be able to stop you!"
Whoa, Kris thought, he's sooo brave!
The bully ran away from the corner boy and Kris all the way to the other side of the room, leaving Kris and him together by the wall. Kris looked at him and smiled, truly seeming greatful.
"Thank you, mister."
"Call me Adam. What's your name?"
"Kris."
"That's a great name. Come on, let's go play."

End of Flashback
"And ever since then, we've been closer and closer each day, huh?"
Kris smiled and ruffled up Adam's raven-colored hair. "Yup. I love you baby."
"I love you too, Kris."
Thus, the clock struck 7:30, marking their first year together. Adam and Kris kissed each other passionately, tears falling from their joyful eyes.
"Happy Anniversary, baby," Adam mumbled through their kiss.
"Happy Anniversary, my love."
And so the young couple spent the rest of the night in each other's arms, enjoying the moment.
The moment they became one.
